Too Much Twinkle?

Rene is awesome :) He understands my love for photography...and he is so willing to give me the time it takes to learn about it, and do the work that it involves (many, many hours!) So last night when we were getting the kids all ready to go grocery shopping, he suggested I bring my camera, so I can try this shot I've been wanting of the town, from the sledding hill. What a sweetie, and so we did! I'm not sure if it might be too much twinkle, or if I like it in Black & White?! I'm much better at portraits then landscape, ugh, but I want to try and balance it out.
We had such a fun weekend :) We met up with Jason and Celine, and their kids and Dorien and Nat. I didn't get any really good pictures which I realize is sometimes hard with 2 kids hanging off of you, and being outside. Dorien took out his quad, and they hooked up 3 sleds to the back, and we took turns going for rides. It was a blast, the kids had so much fun! Thank you guys!!! It's so cool to see Jaden and Dawson playing, and then Brianna and Avery playing. My kids are finally old enough to go off and play, which is so cool. They adore their cousins (Just wish I had taken MORE pictures!!!!) Today Jaden has mentioned a few times how much fun he had watching Over The Hedge with Dawson, and how they laughed a lot, and my daughter now wants a "baby brat" doll like Brianna ;) Some days I wish we could live back in Plamondon, near our families. Don't get me wrong, I love Whitecourt, and we do have family here. But I have a feeling that we'll all end up back there some day. Maybe not Alphy, but it's a good reason to come back to Whitecourt to visit too :) I could be wrong, and who knows, right!?

So today is Monday...and I should be getting things back on track here. Rene has started his new position with Talisman, and is now working Monday-Thursday, 10hr days. I like this shift, he has every weekend off...including Fridays. I know that he never sticks to one shift for long, they are always moving things around out there...so for now we'll enjoy it. On another note, I have completed (i think..) my price list for taking pictures for 2007. I have set the prices at where I'd like them to be once I'm officially doing it as a business...and offering 50% off until at least August 1st. I'm really excited to start booking some shoots, so that I can start working on a portfolio. That is what my plan is from now until August. Beginning in September I'd like to offer some special family picture discounts for the holidays. I'd also like to get a website up and running in the fall. So much fun!! Well.......... I better throw in a load of darks, and go clean up breakfast dishes! Have a good day!

Wednesday Already??

It's been a busy week, and to anyone who is following, my class is going just awesome! It's perfect for me :) The only down side, is ya sit for 2 hrs to drive there, the class is 3hrs, half of which you are sitting, and then the drive home... But so worth it! I've learned so many cool things, to help improve my photography, I can't wait to put all this information to use! Here are a few pictures, just cause. Jaden had fun 'shaving' as you can see! I played a bit with Avery's picture, but I'm not really liking it. I'll try again tomorrow. We are trying to get some Valentine pictures done, so that Jaden can have something different for school. I worked on Avery's yesterday, and thx to Nat, he had a good haircut, so we'll try with him tomorrow! Have a good Thursday!

Something Different...

I'm seriously CRAVING spring.... and the weather network is saying it will be PLUS 11 on Wednesday!!! Of course they could just be teasing me.... lol, we'll see. I learned a new technique, and this was the only landscape type picture I could find quick enough to try it on. Just thought I'd share :) Have a good Monday everyone!

Nothing*extra*Ordinary

Jaden just *loves* Grandma's banana bread, it's pretty much all he eats when we are in Plamondon (yup, he's spoiled there!) He was quite upset that Grandma didn't have any this trip, so they made some together! Lucky boy!

Here's a picture of Avery at the sledding hill. She was feeling really sick, and we had just come from seeing the Dr. but we stopped by the hill quickly just to get a bit of fresh air, and to get a few pictures of the boys sledding.

Had some time tonight to go through some pictures from the past week. Wanted to share a few with you all. I want to get back in the habit of updating this blog at least every other day! Avery's pink eye has now passed on to Jaden. He's going to freak out when he can't open his eyes in the morning... I'm well aware it will be a hectic Saturday Morning. Speaking of freaking out... (l0l) Today my kids were not getting along so well, and fighting over who sat on which chair, so they were sent to their own bedroom to play, clean up, whatever...while I made lunch. This is at 11:30 this morning. Fine, they went, and all was going well........until Avery came running out of her room SCREEEEEEEEEAMING (that scream where ya think she got hurt really badly..) she was Hysterical, and I could not understand anything coming out of her mouth, so I'm looking her over for blood, or pinched finger..something. Turns out "Der was a weaally weally BIG BLACK Pider on my elmo bathing suit!" Oh Lord. It's going to be a difficult summer for my girl...lol. She thought I was so brave when I went and picked up the spider with a kleenex and flushed him down the toilet. Which then brought on a million WHY questions about where the 'pider' went.... lol. All I can do is laugh it off... hehehhehhe. Have a good weekend, and thx for coming by!
These are the faces Jaden keeps giving me when I take out the camera! lol.... and here's the popsicle Grandpa and Grandma gave him since he had a cold...
My Aunty Leonie risked getting sick to snuggle up with Avery, who is so lucky to have such a sweet and cuddly aunt, who never fails to give in to all Avery's lotion and lipstick requests!

It was time to get OUT of the house for the boys.... here they are enjoying some awesome weather this week on the sledding hill! I think Rene has just as much fun on Jaden's new "JP" snow racer (that's what Jaden calls it!)

Happy Birthday wishes to Rene's Mom!!! Hope your day isn't too crazy and busy, and that you find time to yourself to sit back and relax!!
Love All of Us!

*Update* On Photography Class

Thank God the roads were good last night! It was a nice drive, and Rene just put 4 new tires on the van, and a new battery. I was good to go, besided the fact that my spedometer was broken!? So I had no idea how fast I was driving, which is a bit freaky! It's going in tomorrow to be fixed.

As for the class........AWESOME-AWESOME-AWESOME!!! It's perfect for what I need right now :) I hit Kingsway before going to NAIT since I had a few hrs to spare. I got suckered into Gymboree because I had 50.00 in gymbucks to use :) Can't make this a habit! I drove over to NAIT, and just so happened to park at the closest stall to the closest door to the classroom. It was a fluke, as some people said they walked through the entire building in order to find it! Yikes!!! There are 18 of us I believe, and our instructor has the same brand of camera as I do (Canon) so that is cool... our functions are pretty much the same, although her camera is way more pro then mine. We covered everything that I thought we would cover in the whole 5 weeks in that first class! She taught us all about: Shutter speeds, ISO, Aperture/f/stops, DOF, and Compesition. The girl sitting on one side of me had the same camera as me, so we helped eachother out, that was nice. There were all kinds of cameras in the room...even a 3.2 megapixel point and shoot! I'm giving you all this info, knowing you might not understand all that I'm saying, which is important in way. A lot of people think they can pick up a "good" camera, and "anyone" can take good pictures. This isn't really true. There is a lot to understand and know in order to correctly expose your pictures, and then there are many ways of making a picture feel right, rather then odd. So hearing someone say "Your camera takes good pictures..." while a good camera might help, you must understand how to use your camera and understand photography in order to take the awesome pictures. It is the photographer who takes the awesome shot, consistantly.

I am really excited to look at the homework, and work on it this week. Next class we move into the studio's (3 of them) where we will be working with lights, reflectors, backdrops, props, and various lenses! I can't wait....it's well worth the money, I can tell already!

I want to thank you guys for all the kind comments you have left on my blog or by email. Your support is appreciated :)

Playing with Portraits

I spent the weekend at mom and dad's...the kids were sick, so we didn't do that much. I did get a few candid pictures, and wanted to share these two. One of my cousin Elora (You may have seen her comments here :) and the other of Robin, my very single brother ;) It's nice to post some pictures that aren't of my kids...I'll give everyone a little break! lol

Avery seems to be feeling a bit better today. I took her to the Dr. who said it's just a virus. Can't treat it with antibiotics....keep giving her advil/dimetapp. Ughhh, I feel bad giving her so much of that stuff, and her poor eyes are a bit infected still. Nothing but wait it out....Jaden and I have colds, and Rene is feeling better now.

On a better note, we have officially booked a trip to the Dominican Republic! I never imagined going on such a trip when our kids were still this young, but thankfully we both have parents who are willing to keep the kids for 4 days each in April. We are going with my Aunty Leonie and Uncle Benny, and some of their family, and another couple. I can't wait to feel HOT SUN on my skin....this cold weather is driving me crazy, so a beach holiday in the near future sure helps us get through this part of the year!

I know everyone is probably so sick of hearing about this photography class I'm taking at NAIT, but tomorrow is my 1st day :) NAIT is soooo BIG, that I'm a bit nervous about finding the classroom, and parking etc.. Rene is home so that is one less thing to worry about. Nexk week will be another story! Nearly 1am, time to get some sleep... hope everyone is doing well! :)

100 things about me!

This was part of a challenge, just thought I would share. I posted it on my other blog. http://adriennephotoaday.blogspot.com/

Pictures....

Here are the pictures I tried to post last night. A whole bunch of Avery, she doesn't mind swapping "Picture Fun" for "Hand lotion and lip gloss" I found my bribe!! lol.... Jaden is still hiding from me when I take out the camera... I don't want to ruin him for life, so I just hope the phase won't last long. There is a picture in there of Avery talking on her little phone, standing on her bed, looking out the window. Honestly this girl is only 2, but going on 16!! Her side of the conversasion is always soooo funny. The other day it was HER sister, and her kids are fighting again..." She makes me laugh every day.

Sorry! What a busy week it's been....

On the computer that is! I have been trying to get all my pictures burned onto cd's so it frees up some space on my computer! I'm not even going to tell you how many photographs are on this thing... I'm crazy! I started the week off with some big time organizing! We went and bought 10 or so rubbermaid containers from Canadian Tire, and went through all the toys, and hauled a bunch to the Repeat Boutique. Put away some baby toys for the future, and decluttered. It feels so good to do this every year, at least once. I'm counting down the days for my photography class... I'm so excited, and can't wait to see what it's all about, how many students etc.. I think it will be really fun. I'm feeling a lot better now, knowing Rene will be home at least every other Wednesday with the kids. His boss is very understanding, thankfully (they had asked he work every wednesday now... so that threw us for a loop) We've been talking about going on a trip...and not sure where, when etc... but I think we've pretty much agreed to go back to Vegas, and see what we did not see on the last trip. We are desperately trying to get Jason and Celine to join us ;) They would be so much fun, and mentioned they wanted a holiday too. I've been working a lot on fun stuff this week too. Trying to join in on a few photography and scrapbooking challenges online :) The kids are healthy and so busy playing with all their new toys from Christmas, that it's like they don't even realize it's been almost a week since we've really been outside to play. We go for a walk to the mail, but that isn't as much fresh air as they need. Now we have this "BIG SNOW BLIZZARD" warning tonight...so it may be a few days before we can get out again. Trips to Walmart will have to do for now! :) I took a few pictures of Avery this week, here's a few of em... Jaden is anti-camera lately, unless he gets to hold it. Have a good day everyone...stay sheltered if you are in the area for this crazy weather!

ETA: Blogger is not loading pictures for me tonight.. so I'll post them in the mornnig! G'night!!

Happy 2007 *Hi Bill*

{Inside Joke..lol}
Yes, I am finally updating my blog! This last entry has been up waaaaay too long, and I looked at Tanya's blog, WOW!!! She has dial up and has 3 or 4 entries up on me ;) (CUUUUTE Pictures btw Tanya!!!) So Christmas has come and gone....and today is New Years Day! I could sit here and reflect on 2006 but I might save that for tomorrow. So much happened and went on this past year, I was even easily convinced to get a tattoo so that I remember this year forever! I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, and a healthy one too! My kids were feeling good over Christmas, but a few days ago they both started with high fevers...and it was 3 days of meds and they are finally feeling better. We spent the last 3 days at Rene's mom's and Bill's, and had such a nice visit. They were so good to us, and put up with my sick children! The kids really enjoyed being at their Meme's, and seeing their cousins again. My tummy is so full from her cooking, oh my goodness it was excellent.... and we really enjoyed all the poker games!! Thank you guys :) We leave Plamondon today to go back home in Whitecourt, and have a few days with Rene before he goes back to work on Thursday. I hope to get some scrapbooking done, and time to play with my new camera lens! Happy New Years to everyone, I will update with some pictures hopefully tomorrow!

*cheers*
